"Where ever you are, be the soul of that place" ~Rumi
If that place happens to be Morrison Springs, Florida just up from Hwy 30A, then it will take something, or someone pretty special to
become the soul of this place. My dear friends Kim and Scott Collins aka, The Smoking Flowers, a magical musical duo from Nashville, just happen to fit this portrayal.
Inspiration comes infrequently for me these days, so when I can get to Morrison Springs, take my camera under the fantasy world of cypress roots, moss, turltes, and tourquoise water combine it with artists that are fearless, alluring, graceful and full of spirit ...indeed alchemy pays a visit. With the annual 30A Songwriters Festival upon us, I wanted to introduce to you a couple that we consider locals- when they visit.. and you can't miss this weekend.
We shot these images last summer when they were rolling through town and we were on our way to Alaqua Animal Refuge to get Scott's Hunk and Hound photo for our 2015 calendar to benefit the Refuge. ( He was Mr December and is gonna kill me for mentioning it!). My vision was to have Kim wearing a Nicole Paloma dreass under the water with a vintage accordion, (she actually plays the accordion among others), and make a piece for the 2015 30A Songwriters Festival. With her grace and beauty, Kim has inspired me to create a whole collection of musical underwater pieces and even though the festival is excited to have one of our gems of Kim.. they needed a ROCK N ROLL piece for one of the band stages at Pandoras. Please go by and check out the first underwater photography background in the 30A Songwriters Festival - Scott's version of The Clash "London Calling" as Paul Simonon smashing his bass.
You can find out more information about this artistic duo on their website www.TheSmokingFlowers.com. ...or just come out this weekend and meet them !
